Yesterday I overtook a low-loader carrying a narrow gauge loco with the number 1966 on the smokebox going clockwise on the M25 (Southern Section). Any ideas? Looked in good nick...

I spoke to the haulier yesterday, he was in that neck of the woods and said he had a NG loco on the back, never thought to ask what it was! 8-[

I was busy overtaking it in traffic but it was green and looked in good condition. I didn't see any name plates.

When you say '1966' was on the smokebox, do you mean it was BR style on its own plate, or painted on?

It wasn't an import from Belgium was it?

The number 1966 was in the BR style on a plate on the smokebox. Perhaps Anthony can get positive ID next time he speaks to his haulier... Where would a Belgian import be going?

Has anyone managed to identify this engine yet, and work out where it was going and why?

Talked to the haulier who recently brought the 2 Belgian engines into the country and he said they were from a dispersal sale in Belgium.
1 went to Maidstone and the other near Liphook.
No idea though on make or other details though.

Maybe one went to Hollycombe Steam Collection?

    Cheers for the info!

Thanks for that... Would the other one be for the Bredgar & Wormshill Light Railway?

There's no mention on either website of any new arrivals but the thing that pleases me is that a chance encounter on a motorway has led me to discover the existence of two narrow gauge lines that I hadn't come across before. The Bredgar & Wormshill Light Railway is only seven miles from my sister's house, who I visit occasionally on Sundays, and the Hollycombe Steam Collection is about 30 miles from me, not far from the MHR. Something for the diary this summer. I'll see if 1966 is lurking there...
