Auction Catlogues & Railway Collectors Journals

Merry Xmas to all. I'm after old railwayana auction catalogues to complete a listing of BR doorplates. Whilst you're all getting bored over this subdued holiday, could you dig around in your attics, lofts and boxes. Happy to just borrow, have scans, to buy (though I'm not a millionaire)!, whatever.

I'm missing just a few from 2000 onwards. I have about half from the 90's but next to none earlier. I'm particularly after:
Talisman: Nov 11
Crewe: Mar & Oct 10 and Mar 11
Solent: Mar & Oct 00, Mar & Jun 02 and all 1992-99
Phillips (Knowle): Jan & Oct 01
Cundalls: Feb 10, about half from 1992-2003 & all up to 1991
Sheffield: all 1987-89
Matlock: all 1990, Oct 91, all 1993, all 1999.

Bonus points for any from Twyford, Chorley, Bitton, Liverpool, Watford, Buxton, Malvern, Rushden etc.

Finally I'm after Railway Collectors Journals: nos 1-4, 6, 8-15, 17-21, 23-26, 28, 31, 33, 83, 85, 86, 88-91, 94, 95, 97, 106, 107, 109, 112, 113 and 115. Any On the Lines & RCN's also of interest.

Yes, I wish I had been collecting back then with nameplates at a few pounds and enamel signs sold in job lots!

 

Not sure Nameplates were ever cheap except very early on when sold at scrap prices. BR very quickly cottoned on but I take the point in as much as the differentials. My Nameplate cost me 1 months wages, just after I started work, but now might cost 6 to 8 months wages.
Totems the same. First one cost me £8 (saved for weeks to get it) from Corrupters Corner in 1978 probably cost £350 now (it is not from a sought after location). I really wanted Broad Street but couldn't afford it at £12.
Unfortunately I lobbed or burnt all of my past catalogues and many mags when my Father passed away. Had to clear his house and much that was stored there went on the fire.

 

Yes, we tend to forget that £8 in 1978 is equivalent to about £50 now, (and relative to average wage packets the difference may be greater). I recall visiting Collectors Corner around that time and being amazed that Western nameplates were around £500 - somewhat more than my paper round would run to! I guess not all railwayana has boomed (eg carriage prints) but the enamel I collet currently seems to be going mad!

Shame about the mags and catalogues - I suspect most have gone the same way. I keep scanning the stalls but apart from old RAG mags, few collectors magazines or auction catalogues ever seem to surface.
