More work on the points this weekend and a first drop of ballast along part of the platform lines. Pictures coming later, my usual source has not yet managed to send them

Impressive! There are going to be some interesting photo options there in the future.

As a child I used to play around Oswestry station in the 70's. I'd never been to Weston until about 5 years ago so I haven't noticed much change. It's still a lovely part of the world and maybe my dream of retiring to live on a narrow boat adjacent to the line on the restored canal may still come to pass. Lots of work on many fronts still needed!

The last rails for this phase of tracklaying at Weston were cut to length yesterday. I'll update the blog later. I am out in the sticks today with a very slow connection so photos are taking ages to load.
Now it's time to ballast and fettle the track.

Will you be able to fit a 7 1/4 on a narrow boat?

That's a good point.... It's a few years away yet though. 2033 according to the latest Italian rules but I hope to retire well before then.

A wet Thursday slowed things down a bit. The focus was on getting ready for the working week which starts on Monday.
Look at the station now and then look back to one year ago.

The station is a credit to all who have put the hours in, both on the shovels and in the background making things happen. I salute you one and all.

    Totally understandable!
You all have worked so hard and the progress is remarkable - especially considering the Covid situation over much of the time.
    CONGRATULATIONS!

I can only echo what Flying Phil has said. You've done an amazing job considering everything that has been going on. (And the blog has done a great job in keeping us informed).

Yes truly amazing but has sufficient work been done for Cambrian Heritage Railways to benefit from the grant which I believe is/was time limited?

The simple answer is yes but it was a really close run thing. Whilst there are still items to be finished the main parts of toilets, drains and platforms are physically in place and visible. As anyone who has built a station will tell you those are only part of the picture, you need so much more and all of the paperwork as well. This is why it's key to have both physical volunteers and behind the scenes ones as well. What you physically see is a team effort of all volunteers and contractors.
