Railwayana Fair Hellifield Station 20th September

Thought I'd give a little "plug" for this event. It is being organised by "Shed 24H" the excellent café and existing Railwayana shop on Hellifield Station. Good number of stalls already signed up. Good car parking on the aborted West Coast Railways site adjacent to the station. Advert says toilet facilities available.
Hellifield Station is much improved these days, nicely cleaned and the café looks to do a very good trade, especially but not exclusively when there is a steam special. A new initiative is "Yorkshire Sleeper". Details to come but looks to be making use of the upstairs accommodation at the station for overnight (and possibly longer?) stays. (I have no connection with Shed 24H, just thought it was a worthy cause deserving support. They are certainly putting in a lot of effort).

 

Sadly the event has been postponed - a victim of the 'Rule of Six'.

 

Great shame but I suppose it's the right decision in present circumstances. Let's hope for better news (all round!) next year.
