The NNR apparently has raised £16,000 in a couple of weeks. Good for them. They have also produced a video.

Hopefully with the money coming in from the public, and the sale of rolling stock to the M&GN Society, the railway will be ok.

Following today's government announcement on the relaxation of the lock-down restrictions, the North Norfolk Railway is pleased to be able to announce that it hi will re-commence train services on the 8th of July.

Initially services will be limited to four pre-booked return steam hauled trips, from Sheringham only, per-day. To meet social distancing requirements the rolling stock will be compartment stock only; initially the Quads, one Mk1 Suburban and a BSK Brake. The set will be cleaned thoroughly between each trip. Bookings will be taken (and charged) per compartment (up to eight people can be accomodated in a compartment) and no groups will be mixed in a compartment.Weybourne and Kelling Heath Park stations will remain closed for the time being, and Holt will only be open to those arriving by train. Only volunteers on duty and ticket holders will be allowed onto Sheringham and Holt stations. Social Distancing controls will be in place.

This is a step towards normality, if and when further relaxation of the rules occurs there is the possibility of introducing additional services. At present due to social distancing restrictions there are no plans to re-introduce the North Norfolkman dining services.

Tickets will go on sale online later today.

The new services have been designed to meet social distancing regulations, ORR requirements, and meet the Visit Britain Visitor Kitemark standards.

Looking at the NNR website I think £35 to book a compartment is very fair.

A few people on social media complaining that it’s too expensive for passengers traveling on their own. I guess they don’t understand the huge effort the NNR folks have had to put in during these hard times.

Yes, at least they are making an effort to keep going, unlike some railways which have given up on 2020. If it looks a bit expensive, treat it as being partly your donation to a good cause!

You may have to commiserate with them on the Canaries' descent back to the Championship. The canteen lady (who always served up a great curry every Thursday) at my job was a Naarwich girl, and keen supporter of City. i couldn't get her interested in the North Norfolk Railway, though!

The North Norfolk Railway is back in business. Trains recommenced today and all four trains full. This evening there was a several minute slot on About Anglia. 34C679C2-5A30-495E-97EA-E886B4ED7AD8.jpeg

    Just a thought.

How would Ring Haw look in M&GN colours?

It has lived on this stretch of former M&GN line for about 50 years now after all.

Announcement from the North Norfolk Railway

We are incredibly excited to announce that we are now booking for August 2020!

Our new service will consist of not one, but two locomotives hauling six returns from Sheringham throughout the day starting on August 1st, and we'll be opening the station at Holt as well!

For return journeys, you can book as of right now at www.nnrailway.co.uk

    - if you'd like to book a single journey, you'll need to come to the railway on the day of travel and ask the ticket office at either Holt or Sheringham stations.

Compartment tickets for up to four people are still £35 for a return journey, with additional adults at £10 and additional children aged between 4-15 at £5 each.

Made a second post lockdown trip to the NNR on Sunday. J15 looked a treat on the teaks and loadings looked good.
