WTT are usually available in advance from the railway (£5) and going on usual gala practice a basic timetable/factsheet (Listing departures but not loco/coach diagrams) is handed out when you buy your ticket.
    Regarding first and last trains:
First departures - No idea! But if you get there for between 9-10am you wont be far wrong.
Last arrivals are: Friday - KR at 2250 and BH at 2334
Saturday - KR at 2302 and BH at 2312
Sunday - KR at 1912 and BH at 1756
So the trains will run far into the evening!
    Hope that helps anyway!
    Pete

How is the ticketing for the gala working? Mainly will there be an evening ticket?

Just at Llangollen, 9017 will have arrived and there is a group of us working on her in preparation for a repaint. Not all the guys are too keen though, on coming over in the evening to ride the trains when they have to pay full price despite only getting half the event.

Is there no chance of making a reduced fare ticket available from say 17:00 onwards or something?

I can add a few more spots to that list.

The Mercian way follows the railway between Highley and Hampton Loade, There is a hump where the pathway rises above track level and a good shot facing north can be had.
Country Park Halt: Facing North, trains accelerating off the 20mph.

There are a couple of footpath crossings between Highley and Arley as well.

If you have walked from Arley round to Vic bridge, then carry on up to Trimpley reservoir and there is a foot crossing that many photos have been taken from.
Along the river side path ( a very beautiful walk ), you reach Folly point, there is a shot there but with limited viewing.
Any shots along Northwood Lane (3 locations) can be upto 15-25 min walk, depending on speed.

Thank you 'Southernman' for this, I'll add them to the file when I can and re-post.

    Regards

PS I have a number of similar files for other railways, would anybody find those useful?

Do you mean you can get to the foot crossing by staying with the riverside path once under Victoria bridge?

    Cheers,

    Paul

    Directions from Arley station:
Walk down past the Harbour, and cross the footbridge, turn left down the footpath and keep walking under Vic bridge.
You reach a kissing gate, you can then walk up the embankment to the reservoir. I spent 2 hours just sitting down in beautiful winter sunshine watchin the Santa trains.

It is about 15-20 min walk.

Thanks, I'm with you now. Might have to give that a go. Although don't you mean turn right down the footpath towards Victoria bridge?

    Cheers,

    Paul

You missed the best bit, if the river is low, just after bridge there are some rocks next to the bank, you can step down on these to get a verry noce photo, unlikely at this time of year unfortunetly.

I tend to try and find spots where people aren't.
BUT i have been to that position and that shot is quite beautiful.

Unfortunately the water level hasn't been low for a very long time.

Hmm you may have just gained yourselves some extra guests from Llangollen. Just need to see how many drivers we have! A very good decision by the SVR in my mind, I hope it works for them.[/quote:2ufshnkt]

You've also gained the support of a few who were just going to be taking photos... Providing, that is, that we'll have a decent opportunity to get in one of the manors, the castle or the brit during that time :) But I should think they'll be pretty high in the list of priorities for most, so it would seem logical...!
