Great set of shots but the first one is an absolute cracker.
Superb composition, smoke and steam, plus human interest with the signalman and the token. Well done.

Absolutely glorious -- except that I can't quite come to terms with an A4 coupled with its front end to a train. (Tender first when light engine was of course quite normal, but normally only for short distances.)

Looks odd, doesn't it, especially with the corridor tender? But tender-first running has been a normal part of an A4's working life for the last 50+ years. Define "normal" ;-)

Tremendous! There are not many individual steam locos that can pull my heartstrings, but 60009 is one of them.

My latest footage, enjoy. I really enjoyed myself on this day. Filming and taking photos of this superb loco and even had a ride behind her for it could be my last ride behind Number 9 she will be sadly missed :(.

Some superb photos, gents. Thank you for sharing.

I think they show very well why there have been so many expressions of regret in this thread about the retirement of No. 60009. I for one believe that Mr Cameron has the right to do what he likes with his engine, especially given how much of his own money he has put into overhauls to keep it running on the main line in the last 40+ years. However, the pictures above underline just how much affection there is towards "Number Nine". It is definitely my favourite LNER engne and I am pleased that over te years, Mr Cameron has assembled a support crew who have been happy to travel hundreds of miles from their mainly Scottish homes to allow the loco to operate across the length and breadth of the country. A big thanks too to Ian Riley for keeping it going after a few problems in the last couple of years. Of course, now Mr Riley has started work on his own "Number Nine" and no doubt when its restoration from Barry condition is complete, we will have another fine performer to enjoy, but (and I say this very much as a Southern man) the main line scene won't be the same without No. 60009 - a truly magnificent machine as the photos above illustrate.
