2 foot gauge Steam Loco for sale. As published in the current Narrow Gauge News: NGN 354, p.11

I'm assuming the photo is a work's picture of the type of loco when new - one imagines this is not the current condition of the item for sale.

Just heard that it's already been sold. Don't know to whom.

I would be pretty confident that any guesses are incorrect! ;)

It's a completely new venture for a younger individual whose never previously been involved with 2ft gauge steam. There will be official updates in time, but for now it's all being kept under wraps. I can say that it will be heading north from it's current location and it will not be going to an existing railway.

I'll try and remember to post an update when the news breaks! :)

That's an interesting update! Is it someone known in these parts?

It's not someone who frequents Nat Pres. But it is someone that i'm sure you're aware of, it's just that you haven't previously associated them with narrow gauge stuff before.

Fowler 16341 has today moved to it's new home for the next phase of restoration. I won't give anything away as to the new location of the locomotive, but I will say it's quite a bit further north of the M42! ;)

There'll be a formal announcement of the news and plans for restoration in the near future!

It's listed as part of 'The Steam Workshop Collection' (whoever the Steam Workshop is - website very vague on who they are or even where they are, interesting conduct for what appears to be a model engineering dealer!!) - see http://www.steamworkshop.co.uk/portfolio/2-fowler-16341/

I note they are having a Christmas sale, restoring the Fowler won't be cheap!

    Trewyn,

It is indeed now part of The Steam Workshop Collection, I didn't realise Simon had made the dedicated page public yet.

The primary business is the buying, selling and restoration of miniature steam model's with several years of experience of anything steam from garden railway's all the way up to 10 1/4". However with family history dating back to full size traction engines, Foxfield Railway and 4079 Pendennis Castle, the bigger toy's aren't necessarily a new venture. The Fowler is now owned by the proprietor of The Steam Workshop who's passionate about steam (hence the choice of business!) and who's interests in the hobby far exceed the day job. There's regular updates on Facebook and several hundred video's on YouTube of some of the many project's to have already passed through the workshops. There's certainly no secrecy behind the personnel involved with the business, however the location of the workshop's isn't plastered all over the place for obvious reason's.

Plenty of the restoration of the Fowler will be done 'in house', in hopefully a relatively short timescale, although the locomotive will be based elsewhere for completion of the heavier engineering. There are already plenty of resources in place to ensure restoration work will be commencing in the very near future. For now however, there is already quite a bit of history on the page already referenced.

And yes 4707, that is indeed the same engine! ;)

I am pretty certain that this Fowler will not be at their workshop as last time I was there it was pretty full of miniature locos.

As of last week Richard there's now twice as much space with a second unit having been taken on. You'll have to swing by for another visit next time you're passing! :)

I'm expecting all the new fittings etc to be machined on site. However the locomotive at least for the time being will be located of few miles south of the Steam Workshop premises. Plenty of updates to feature in the future Facebook updates!
