6229 streamlined or 6220?

Just a thought, when 6229 has been streamlined and painted maroon and gold, how about putting a bell and headlight on her and numbering her as 6220 Coronation?

This wouldn't be a sham, as it was 6229 that did the US tour using Coronation's identity. It is quite unique to have a choice of identity without the engine having to 'pretend' she is another long scrapped loco. If she were put back in running order in the future that headlamp would be handy.

Not wanting to start a 4472 type debate, but when 6220 became 6229 for a while, she ran in blue, so there was a blue 6229, just not this actual loco.

Another thought for the future, when she runs, the usual rake of maroon Mk1s would look just as wrong as any other stock, so how about a rake of more modern coaches, but given the maroon and gold stripe treatment (like the US exhibition train) to match the loco?

on that thought, within the next 10 years we might have 3 engines that have been on american tours- royal scot (or is it?), duchess of hamilton (under another name) and scotsman (going as itself). maybe the NRM or another railway will decorate them all together as they appeared across the pond? i'm thinking bells, headboards (the originals must exist somewhere), and some american stock (if any exists in this country)

Not forgetting King George V, which of course still has the bell & medals given to it in the states. I've often thought it would be nice to see it cosmetically restored back to its 1927 condition, although you'd need to get a single chimney from somewhere...

Oh and some wench with a shield to stand on the running plate.

I seem to remember the cow catcher and buffer beam from 4472 being at Carnforth when it was open as 'Steamtown'. Wonder if it's still there?

Didn't Pacer unit 142049 visit Canada at some point shortly after being built; I can't remember the full itinerary but was a visit to North America part of the tour ?

and a Terrier all went to the US at some point.

As far as I know didnt 68846 goto the US as well ?

Still out there is the 2x A4s and an RSH 060. (The Canadian A4 wasnt looking too healthy when I saw it, been bashed by the buckeye coupler of another loco right into the front, with the smokebox door dented, and was rusted to the track and unmovable with considerable rust on the non-painted metal).

I thought that 'Boxhill' and the replica 'Rocket' went to the Sacramento Rail Fair a few years ago - they also asked for 'Duke of Gloucester' but the transport could not be funded (or was that an April 1st newsline?)
