A heads up to anyone traveling to this by public transport. The timetable for the handy No 7 bus link between Atherstone Station and Shackerstone has changed.

The link on the Battlefield Line and on the bus company website directs you to the old timetable. I've let both organisations know.

First bus on Fri/Sat from Atherstone is 10.06. The final journey back is 15.19 on Sat - but at 13.19 on Fri! The gala friendly 17.19 no longer runs. The 159 to Market Bosworth from Hinckley is unchanged.

New timetable attached for No 7 bus.

If the line seriously wants people to attend this event then at the very least a timetable should have been published by now!

I'm tempted to attend this event but planning a day out is not easy without a timetable. Hopefully one will appear soon.

9am apparently according to their Facebook. I’ve asked when a timetable is likely to be available.

I can imagine the complexities of three stations ,three locos ,two run round loops and one rake of stock ...

Great to see Shack running Wightwick. This I believe is the first time the railway has hosted an ex-Barry engine on its first ever visit to a preserved line away from home following restoration

    Go along and support them

Just a heads up for anyone turning up tomorrow, the 11:20 from Shackerstone and 12:00 from Shenton is a freight train and doesn't carry passengers.

Had a nice afternoon at the gala today. The railway was quite busy, looked like more people were there than last year's event. Progress has been made at Market Bosworth with a new siding laid and in use, hopefully in time it will be connected up to the signal box there.
    6989 arriving at Shenton.

I also had a quick visit to the gala on Saturday afternoon. I've always found the people and staff on this line really friendly and only to willing to have a chat. And the Cake sold in the cafe at Shackerstone are really something special :)
I started off at a rather muddy Market Bosworth and manager to catch Wightwick Hall returning from Shenton with the Freight. Wrong way round but still looking striking. The group who rescued her from Scrap condition have certainly made a cracking job of her.

It was a passenger in the end. Didn't see a freight all the while I was there.

The wagons for the freight were stabled at Shackerstone all day on Sunday. The only indication for those in know that the 11.20 was supposed to be a freight was the class 7 head-code in the timetable handout. The word 'freight' wasn't actually mentioned in the timetable so the vast majority of visitors wouldn't have had a clue and assumed all trains were passengers. No announcements were given to the contrary so when 7820 backed onto the stock for the 11.20 everyone assumed that this train was to be a passenger. It was good day with some 'lively' running. The triple header on the last return working was overkill but all three crews appeared to enter into spirit of things so it rounded off a great event.
