A Justgiving page has been opened on behalf of the Kent & East Sussex Locomotive Trust (which is a separate entity to the KESR itself). Their BTH loco has suffered a serious failure in the generator, and they need to raise funds to have it professionally repaired. It is a unique and historically important loco, and deserves a new lease of life, so please support it if you can.

The link to the page is: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/fix-our-generator

This unique ancestor of today's diesel locomotives deserves a photograph:

During this relay up Tenterden bank I also took a film of it, having a bit of a hard time getting a grip on the irregular and damp track, which had not yet been tamped and levelled:

And if you are into old diesels (they have a certain charm) the driver was kind enough to let me film him starting it:

If you want to know more about it, its details are on the KESR's website here:

I think it is a wonderful grandfather of all our main line diesels today, but built as far back as 1932. Now it's broken - please help to fix it !
