60009 seen this morning on the DCE at a sunny Barnes Bridge. Shame the sun had to be in my eyes.

I think the only way i could make it to blackburn for the sough tunnel leg of this tour on 3rd November is by getting a bus replacement T.P.E. bus service to man picc from huddersfield which takes 1 hour and 10 mins and a 7:55am dep northern rail service man vic to Blackburn 8:43 arr or miss out doing sough tunnel leg and settle for starting at man vic seen as though i did the tin bath on 15th Febuary 2015 via sough tunnel only did that once. th tin bath tours that followed after then either went via rochdale or on to preston due to that 1st tin bath running late down the single line section before sough tunnel i think if i got that right.

I was on that much rescheduled Tin Bath. Network Rail issues, Ollie wouldn't fit round Penistone........ Finally it ran with the Riley Fives and very successfully too, I don't remember it running late. I think the usual problem with Sough has been pathing which perhaps is not a problem at 9 on a Sunday morning.

There was a discussion a bit ago about true enthusiasts tours as opposed to the day out market. This is one such. I wonder how well it will do.

Much as we'd love to do the South Yorkshireman it would be a 4 hour drive to Blackburn for us. No train from Crewe, our usual drive to point. Would have done it 20 years ago!!!

I prefer trips to a destination rather than a long time sitting on the train, but with the starting point a 15 minute drive away it may be hard to refuse.

Why?! 'Into the light' frequently provides the most effective images - as long as you underexpose to retain the detail in the sky and exhaust, and not just leave the camera set to 'auto' (like most seem to do). Early morning or late evening, plus in mid-winter, you should then get something like this........ _IGP9090A (low-res).jpg

I wasn't talking about the camera, I was just saying that I couldn't control the camera properly because the sun was in my eyes, hence the rough zoom and the slightly high angle.

Hard to believe we have a Duchess on the mainline today and no one has posted yet! Here it is at Shrub Hill having just arrived. Apologies for the weeds - at least they don't clash with the livery ;) fullsizeoutput_17f8.jpeg

Sorry!! Just arrived home after a long day filming the Duchess, Clun Castle and the blue King at the GWRly.

I've been informed that 6233's climb this morning nearing Sapperton was a little disappointing. The Duchess was running 15 mins late at Swindon and so the 10:14 stopper to Cheltenham departed just 5 mins ahead and prevented a clear run to the summit. Shortly before the tunnel the Duchess was eased due to an adverse signal but it cleared just in the nick of time.

I filmed the Duchess this afternoon soon after it departed from Worcester. What a fantastic sight and sound. I'm sure that the support team are very proud of their stunning locomotive. <BJ>

Guess who was the unfortunate soul who caught her in between the shutting off and subsequent opening up...

Made up for it on Honeybourne Bank, though. Looked lovely in the baking sun.
