Although possibly not with its original boiler? I've lost track of all the swapping of boilers between DMLL associated locos!

Thank you (Obvious once you know - the straight footplate at the cab end should have given at least the class away).

I see it now says on the website that the folk who need to be are aware of the problem, it looks like some third party has tweaked some code somewhere which means it's not talking to something else properly.

That's really odd, as it doesn't on mine, and that's using Chrome.
Ah well, I'm sure it'll all work out ok.

An unwonted visit report. My brother and I visited yesterday, in my case for the first time in 15+ years.

A thoroughly enjoyable day. 2807, a 37, 47 and DMU in use plus the two Mk I rakes. Unfortunately the King was found that morning to have a broken spring on a driving wheel. That and the damaged point at Broadway made a long and trying day for the many train and station staff. All showed admirable good humour.

The stations were more than just clean and tidy, hugely well turned out. Broadway is of course a gem. Gardens too were pretty and well maintained. We chose to ride the line and enjoy the scenery with a stroll up to Broadway itself for a couple of halves. There were a few taking the organised taxi, many more took the walk up. The Mk Is were well turned out internally and externally (play spot the NSE moquette - we had both Jaffa Cake and the blue NSE?)

It was a Teddy day with lots of kids having fun without it detracting from the heritage experience.

    Gripes - none. Suggestions -
    • I was at RHS Wisley and their disposable cups and lids are non-oil and compostable, using a plant-based coating instead http://sustainandrevive.com/. I know others are looking to reduce single-use plastics
    • First was unclassified, but we didn't realise until the last train
    • Catering was ice cream, tea, cake and sandwiches with nowhere readily apparent to have something more substantial? If there was and we missed it, perhaps it needs better promotion?
Speaking to crew the damaged point has been sent for repair with a six week period quoted, with the line plain-lined at present. Early November was a hoped for fix date.

A really good day out. Thanks to all.

    Patrick

Re-enacting just another day at Banbury in the 1950s? Without Kings failing, their "thunderbird" Modified Halls would have been under employed!

Glad you enjoyed it! :) Our cups are recyclable, there's a special sorting bin for them in the buffet car on each train, use of plastic straws has ended and plastic forks for cake significantly reduced.
The franchised Flag and Whistle cafe at Toddington does do more substantial meals. I'd heard a lot earlier than November for the repaired point, but who knows!
