I was under the impression this move was always scheduled for today, was certainly on RTT last Sunday.

I was surprised to see Braunton turn up however after it being announced that 70000 was the scheduled loco.
The newly repainted and renumbered engine, still unlined and without nameplates at Yorton and Sutton Bridge Jct this morning.

The loco situation has improved in the south recently. Locos now include 35028, 60103, 60163 and 61306 in London. 34046 is due to arrive at Bristol this afternoon. <BJ>

UPDATE: …..and now the Duchess to Southall.

At a rough count we have ten class 7 and 8Ps fit to run on the main line, could be twelve when the two Scots come back. I wonder when was the last time that was the case. Untold riches compared with a few years ago.

Just noted the Saphos web page https://saphostrains.com is now saying the 26th June train will be hauled by Britannia (subject to availability) - will have too look out for another engine movement to Bristol.

I see the Duchess ran to Southall last night (thanks to mattspencer for the link) but - have I missed something? I can't see why, as it doesn't appear to have any work allocated. Can anyone enlighten me?

According to UKSteam Info 45699 was certified in 2013, 45690 in 2014 and, as we all know, 45596 2018. So, theoretically, unless it gets an extension, 45699 is due to retire for overhaul next year.

This is a time when we realise how useful the Uksteam updates were. <BJ>
