    Have I missed something?
According to the A1 Trusts website tonights 75 mph test run is her last test run before becoming mainline certified.
She is then going back to the NRM for painting and going on display there until her first passenger carrying runs early next year.
If this is the case what has happened to the plans to run her at 90 mph?
Yes I know test runs can be done with passengers on board but the website states this is her final test run.

I dont think going for 90mph is planned until they have performed consistently and reliably at 75 - that would seem the most sensible thing to do. Of course, higher speeds should also help fill seats (at least initially) so it makes sense to keep that ace up their sleeves at least for now. Its certainly something to look forward too...

I also think everyone will want to go on a railtour with tornado as its new etc, then when the novelty wears off going to 90 will relight the interest again. So they can spread the USPs out instead of putting them all on at the start.

    Just one word WOW!!!

Passed through chester le street at 8:10 ish.

Nearly got bowled by a 66 on coal train though.

Must have been 150 people on platform waiting her arrival.

Was not going out for her return, changed my mind now!!!

Well i went to Northallerton and you literally couldn't move on the platform for the amount of people, and i'd urge people to start talking notice of the signs, "Stand Well Back behind the Yellow lines" i saw people standing next to the platform edge when the NEXC trains are coming along, even i got scared and i was back by the fence, only takes a person to loose their balance and their gone.
Also Flash photography again, major factor tonight more so with trains doing 100mph or above.

Anyway, fantastic sight! And that Chime whistle is fantastic, had it blasting for ages on the approach :D

    Video Now Online.

Thanks for posting that - what a sight. Illness in the family meant that I couldn't get out tonight, but that's made up for it!

I completely agree with that post Ralph - Like you say all owners of mainline or even preserved steam should put up to date info on their locos more regularly... It makes for ppl like us who have a love for all Steam and news..........

Just had an update from on board, York to Darlington was completed in 38 mins and speed never went over 75mph, quick acceleration on leaving York was a key factor apparently.

magnificent machine.unfortunately photo opportunities were limited by the many people who welcomed her into newcastle, especially the "young lady" who insisted on standing in front of everyone else brandishing a flash gun,in spite of the warning given about flash photography.Hopefully someone can identify her, name her and get her banned from railway stations.

Errr....make that 2 from the three of us Matt! I have just checked through my footage and I must have knocked the setting on to the ten second start up delay as I have some nice footage of half a dozen coaches and a 67! ](*,) ](*,)
It was a fantastic sight though and well worth the trip, thanks to the Tornado guys for making this happen, =D> =D> =D>

    Neil.
