In a word No. Think its more that there arent enough Eastern region engines to go around that are suitable and that even after Black 5s adopted into the North East after years of sterling work on the NYMR, as well as BR standards there still is a gap for traction. Yes that means some Southern engines, but the NYMR has had some Western region engines based there before. I think its more that as events have turned out, the chance to get some of the engines there has come up and they happen to be Southern. No doubt many will like them, Id try to swap them for something else... but variety, spice of life, etc...

Wibn KWVR there was a pannier trialled at Bradford perhaps to Keighley and a gw railcar trialled on the Queensbury in the past, and a long association here. They could even repaint it in Railway children umber wibn

Swiftsure is now part of the home fleet. Last year they had Swiftsure, 9466 and 80078 on steam services.

Heritage Railway report the mainline registration was renewed in February. If I had the money I'd buy it! It means a lot to me this loco, I grew up with it at Quainton, quite likely the first steam engine I ever saw.

Details on the process, where to send expressions of interest etc now on the homepage at http://www.9466.co.uk/ Timetable suggests its going to be quite a swift process.

I imagine the GWS and that guy who used to edit Steam Railway will be starting a project for this one imminently...

Should have added a disenchanted/sarcastic smiley. I think he's referring to the former bus company owner, now chairman of the WSR.

Surely it's a bit heavy for WSR, is it not a weight restricted loco?
