It's going to be a busy day for charters in Llandudno Junction. In addition to the Tornado trip there is also Clun Castle from Dorridge (which I'll be on), and a West Coast diesel charter from Peterborough.
The Victorian Extravaganza might be busy that day!

First steam along the Derby Stoke line for a few years - the last I can remember was Duke of Gloucester.

Edit - except it isn't anymore, Tornado comes on at Crewe.

I hope thats wrong, I've been waiting patiently to see steam on the NSR, and through my local station since the trip was first advertised, then postponed a time or two as a result of Tornado's indiscretions.

I thought this one was steam hauled throughout on the outbound leg from Leicester to Holyhead, but on the return only as far as Crewe.

Have I misunderstood, or has the plan changed?

The plan has changed, steam haulage is now Crewe to Holyhead and back to Crewe.

Well what a corker of a day, including the Victorian fair at Llandudno, for mainline steam today with 7029 to Llandudno from Dorridge and the one I was on Tornado riding behind in coach J to Holyhead and more days to come like this one hopefully for the future of mainline steam lads.

Only hearsay off a fellow enthusiast I was told by on the Ynys Mon express today, North Staffs line from Derby to Stoke on Trent track was renewed under a bridge and N.R. didn't scrape the old ballast from under the bridge piled more ballast under it the bridge in question and apparently slightly raised the height of the track under the bridge and supposedly Tornado was out of gauge. Can anyone else on Nat Pres shed more light on this rumour. P.S. don't shoot the messenger meaning me davo 56F.

With a couple of slips already happened Tornado lifts its heavy 13 coach train away from Crewe.
