If it's an 0-4-4Tathon you lot are planning ..... how's about a raiding party north of the border for the blue one? :D

Mr McNab? Was that the SAS Loco Superintendent? I think you mean MacLeod...

In any case, beauty is in the eye of the beholder - I've never thought the extended bunkers did much for the looks of the O2s, which were at their most handsome as built. And you are all missing the most beautiful, and powerful, surviving 0-4-4T of the lot...

Given that all bar one are located in the South of England a '0-4-4' Gala is a rather interesting idea, and there are a few lines with some rather nice carriages for them to pull...................

I agree entirely Tom. Now if that blue 0-4-4T were to detour to Sussex on its way to Dorset, it would give you a steam loco with duel brake capability to run with the O2......just dreaming! Then if it were to go on to the Isle of Wight......Still dreaming!!

An 0-4-4T gala would actually be one I would go to because it would be different.

    Met 1
M7s (see if we can borrow 245 from NRM for static display)
    419
    H
    O2

I guess if more motive power were needed then might let of 0-6-0t loose.

It would be interesting to see the locos side by side especially as there were so many 0-4-4T on the railways for so many years.

Have I just given away the best idea for a few years once the M7 is back in service?

A host of 0-4-4 Victorian loco's; Best gala since the strictly Bulleid

Forgive me for sounding like a miserable b#####d armchair with no life (maybe I am now after everything) but what's wrong with 34072 now that she can't make the gala? I'm slightly bemused and disappointed as I missed her twice when she was advertised utility then failed but this week I noticed she's working dining trains...

    Maybe it wasn’t due earlier?

Enthusiasts often seem to say “such and such a railway has x numbers of locos in service” but it rarely means all are available all the time. Juggling annual boiler inspections and other maintenance is a job in itself. Taking a home fleet loco out of traffic while there are gala visitors around isn’t a bad idea in my view; better to do it when there are other locos on the line than be forced into having to withdraw a loco for its “annual” when the motive power situation might be tighter; equally (since the actual process of examination is costly in itself) no point doing it early and thereby losing a month on the inspection.

And if you do it early losing a month it may then be out of sync with the rest of the fleet's annual exams as well.

Well admittedly that very logical but since I didn't get to see her at the S&D weekend and Winter Warm Up cause she was failed both times I very up set I'm going not see her work for a flaming 3rd time so forgive me for being very frustrated. She only seems to work when I have no chance of getting down there.

Is there any timetable information on the freight tomorrow with 34072 that was mentioned on Facebook earlier in the week?
