Thanks for that, Ian. To be honest,I didn't look beyond the Diesel Gala as that was the event queried by Anthony.

I hope that clarification will appear soon. We all know how difficult it can be to find accommodation in the area in mid-June.

By now I have usually booked rooms in Minehead for all Galas; Premier Inn with no amendment or refund. I'm pleased that now I have my own accommodation at Blue Anchor I no longer have to worry about losing my payments.

  2. In past years, "to be confirmed" on the online timetable calendar referred to the train times (not the event itself). I understand your caution, though ;)

The online timetable on the official website is, it seems, subject to a few amendments (not affecting the Diesel Gala) which I believe are being sorted.

  3. That is certainly my understanding of the 'to be confirmed' notes. I fully expect that all those special events noted on the timetable matrix will appear within the 2019 timetable leaflet in due course. That is certainly the pattern of previous years, although this is very much a personal and unofficial judgement on my part.

There are tentative plans afoot to operate another compact and bijou Beer & Cider Festival at Washford S&D, to compliment the Diesel Gala. This is likely to run for three days; Thursday 20th to Saturday 22nd June. Somerset CAMRA intend to work with the WSR Gala Planning Team to provide another eclectic selection of stunning ales and ciders from far and wide. Opening hours have yet to be discussed, but I'm sure we will endeavour to take advantage of the long daylight hours. Early days yet, but I'm confident we will come up with something worth looking forward to.

Two cameras, one facing in each direction, with excellent views. I particularly like the camera facing towards Watchet which includes a view towards the workshops. The camera at Blue Anchor has been replaced with a new camera, still in the same position but now sound-enabled.

And for those who subscribe to Railcam UK, another new camera installation, at Dawlish Beach.

Amazing value for just £20. Not only dozens of cameras across the UK rail network but others in Europe
and several really interesting ones in the United States.

I Agree, I have just been looking at Flagstaff Arizona, seems like they had a good dousing of snow overnight.

Chesterton, Indiana is useful in that you can hear the grade crossing bell ring, so enabling other work to be done.

I have happy memories of the Travel Inn in Flagstaff, run by a cheery chap from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. My wife complained that the room had hot and cold running trains.

Just out of curiosity do YouTubers gain financially with their uploads? The latest railway one is a 15 minute video recording of the webcams playing on someone's pc.

The new Chairman is starting to make his mark. The new acting CME is well respected throughout the Heritage Railway sector.http://www.wsr.org.uk/news.htm#1637
