Not the best of shots as sun was setting and light was fading fast, so high ISO, but I managed to catch 37669 + 73082 just East of Swindon this evening.

44871 heads off to Southall through Lancaster @ 10.08 this morning:-

I tried to edit first 7 seconds of the video using you tube editor, could not get it to work due to naff instructions, should be simple but youtube seems to insist you use all the edit tools rather than just the ones you want, usual bully technique, nothing is clear.

I know a lot don't do Facebook so just for info, yesterday the "Royal Scot Locomotive & General Trust" posted that 70000 Britannia should be doing a light loco mainline test run (Kidderminster to Crewe) on 18th October, assuming this is sucessful there should then be a loaded test run on 19th - with plans then in place for Saphos to use her before the end of the year

As with all things in steam these plans may change, but looking good for 70000

Surprised that towing a light engine doesn’t need a support coach. Is a support coach only needed when the steam engine is pulling the train?

A support coach is just that; providing cooking facilities, conveying spares, oils, water treatment, hoses, and the 1001 other things needed for steam operation plus of course the willing volunteer support crew. Most postioning trips do convey the support coach along as somewhere for the suppoort crew.
Going to a preserved railway, all the infrastructure they needed was already in place.

    Cheers, Neil

PS Being picky, the workings should have been class 0, light engine(s) and brake van if required. Positioning trips with a support coach are classified as empty coaching stock (class 5) as the support vehicle is classified as a passenger vehicle.
