I've often wondered: to save confusing old gits like me, could the numbers of TOPS diesels be written on here as they appear on the loco and in the books of yore, viz. 40 013, 47 853? Stops me confusing them with similarly-numbered steam locomotives...!

Which begs the question, is the class 40 in question better written as D213 given that's the painted number?

Good point. Don't want anyone getting confused and turning up at Crewe expecting to see a Fowler 2-6-2T ;)

All I want to say is WOW for the climb of Wilmcote . No restriction through the station and a noise that was just something else . Oh how I wish I had , had a video rather than still

Sh1t! That was where I intended to be today to film it. Having seen all the delays I decided it wasn’t worth the 250 mile round trip to Wilmcote when it might be leaving S upon A later than planned. Got that wrong.

Likewise! Thought all steam were now hit by gauging restrictions of some sort through the station... whether banned or speed restricted. Settled for a fast shot at Widney Manor instead.

I think it’s only the GWR locos that have a problem there, due to the overhang from their cylinders.

A video of 46100 at Stafford on the return leg, also featuring 60009 which passed through an hour or so earlier...

Couple of pictures from today. Hope that the passengers day was not spoiled too much by the lost time at their destination. Looking at UK Steam this could well be the only steam excursion into Stratford this year.

Some nice clag for those assembled on the bridge just south of Dorridge Station.

Gutted I didn't do Wilmcote, but the Scot still provided a great spectacle !
