And from the third day of the LSL circuits, climbing from the viaduct at Chirk Bank and approaching Walcot, the latter an hour late due I understand to the loco taking water at Shrewsbury, as a consequence the Telford stop wasn't taken.

And finally - anyone intending to see the Saphos train on Sunday, don't overlook the Cosford air show - I suspect traffic will be heavy in the vicinity and the Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury line will see a lot of extra services through the day.

Brilliant photographs again @jsm8b. There are some great photo opportunities near Walcott, the problem on such a busy narrow road is finding somewhere safe to park first Thanks for sharing

Thanks, I'm afraid the road will only get worse with the housing developments at the old sugar factory at Allscot.

This should have run yesterday; it is thought to be 48151 going to replace 35018 which is reported as being allocated to 2 Southern Commemoratives in July.

The Scarborough Spa Express ran yesterday (Thursday) behind 35018 from York. 35018 moved from Carnforth to York on Wednesday. The return move from York to Carnforth last night was cancelled, so 35018 is staying at York ?

35018 came over to York a fortnight ago on Wed 30/5 and has been here ever since. There is a transfer path from Carnforth to York on a Wednesday and a return path on a Thursday evening for use if needed but as a rule the loco at York will stay there most weeks.

Isn't there a SSE on 21/6 and 28/6, at least, before Merchant 18 comes south?

From what Fred wrote it is implied the 8F is replacing MN18 on the SSE. My guess, FWIW, would be the 'big green parcels machine' joining the Dalesman 19 June at Hellifield, LE from York. Then back to 10A for possible fells duties till it heads south early July?
Is it perhaps the case using MN18 to Scarborough limits the train length in terms of what can be accomodated at the terminus because it is longer than the LMS locos? If the train needs additional coaches for any reason this may be the reason for a change of loco?

Blimy - it is not that much longer than an 8F or a 5X. Last week we were there with 12 on and there was room in Plat 1 to comfortably fit an extra coach in but not two extra there regardless of the loco.

There are no plans that I know of at present to change the loco at York, but that could of course change at any time. The fact that '18s jolly down south seems to have been deferred makes it more likely that it will stay longer in York but other factors may yet alter this.

Is the 8F transfer report a red herring or ar both 8s based at York presently?
Happy to hear the clarification about station limits at Scarborough being generous enough.
