Cooler day than of late with intermittent sun, Leander with 11 on made a pretty picture as she worked up to Chapel Lane at Hoghton.

Decided to have a run out for 'Leander today...cloudy bright-ish where I caught her at Woodacre and later at Helwith Bridge.

Good spot. Not sure, times match at Carlisle. Running headcode 0Z99, 0 meaning light loco, Z meaning short term working and 99 usually reserved for a rescue loco.

This is complete speculation, but the only reason I can think of is somthing pushing to negate the need for taking on water at Appleby?

Well, I'm sure I saw a lineside fire at Selside, but I can't 100% confirm that's what it was. I know it was a bit of grunt from the Jube passing Helwith Bridge, but loco seemed fine.

Can you clarify which locomotive has failed, 45690 or the 47 mentioned passing Penrith.

Sad news, she was purring along the WCML this morning and in fine voice later at Helwith Bridge (I thought).

There was a farmer spreading lime (or something like it) on a field opposite Salt Lake Cottages. The wind was carrying the dust some distance - maybe that is what you saw? I thought it was a fire too when I first saw it. All academic now anyway.

She sounded well there, but she just looked a touch of it's usual pace IMO.
