I don't think you are being quite fair on the 8F, with 10 on she was not really trying as on that run she never sounded extended, now last year with another couple on was a different story, and still managing to keep to time.

Not sure what the Northbound speed through Appleby was but I heard a massive long whistle as 35018 entered the station but thought hang on that doesn’t sound like a water stop whistle and I literally had seconds to get the camera on in time .

Looking like a nice day up in the Fells tomorrow. I know the 8F is penciled in for the train, but wondering if our Carnforth spies know anything different?

Maybe a WD 8 wheel tender has been unearthed in a darkened recess of 10A to run without a water stop ....

I believe that there will be a wreath on the 8F today in memory of Albert Seymour.

Now taking water at Hellifield, could mean that we may not stop before Carlisle.......

Network Rail works on the assumption of 72 miles for a 4000 gallon tender; 60800 managed Preston - Ais Gill (including slipping badly in Ribble Valley) IIRC before running out of water so 8F should manage Hellifield - Carlisle without stopping.

On the down side it's a tanker which I think goes on to Carlisle. The issues are on the up side where the water tank is located. So the question is what will happen in an hour's time.

    Tanker as always northbound.

I understand that we will not be stopping southbound, the crew are quite happy to run through and if required top up at Hellifield.

Edit, Left Hellifield without taking water..
