Rescue diesel to take us to Peterborough and Tornado will come off there. End of steam' it seems.

Latest update is Tornado hit something which has damaged the middle big end - assistance to Peterborough and then drop Tornado - thence to York if anyone cares - Mike

Question is whether they will let those that want off at Peterborough?

Difficult to imagine what was hit- unless it was a bit of the big end that already gave out - there had been three different trains ahead of us over the same track in the previous 20 minutes - anyway we are apparently stuffed so I’ve asked them to open the bar in honour of the family motto “if in doubt, drink heavily”

Well, I've made it known that I wish to alight at Peterborough and get a refund from UK Railtours. I don't see why I should pay £300 to travel behind a 67 to York and back.

I'd also forgotten just how uncomfortable Mk. 2s were.

Good luck getting your money back... This was an unforeseen incident so I doubt you'd get your money back...

    Just enjoy the trip

Middle cylinder has sustained considerable damage apparently - bits might have come off. They aren't even sure if we can be moved.

Just been told Tornado is being taken off and the 67 will take us to York, NOT stopping at Peterborough.

    I'll hold my tongue...

Dreadful news. Really feel sorry for the A1 folks and the passengers.

There is a picture on the A1 facebook page of a "large lump of metal that is too hot to touch" sitting on the trackbed, not good news.

That lump of metal looks like it bolts round something.

At a guess someone who doesn't want to hear your crap?

No one is a winner today...
Do you really think someone jumping up and down asking for a refund is what the A1ST / the Railtour company / everyone else on this forum need to hear right now?

If you want to be bitter about it, go ahead.. you're not winning support from me
