‪The crank axle project has taken an important step forward this week with the removal of the flawed plain axle and the crank pins. The SDRE are now happy to move onto the next step of the conversion. We still need your help to fund our crank axle. https://www.35011gsn.co.uk/shares.html‬

This weekend at the MHR we collected quite a few new components for the project. The first of these was the whistle valve we purchased from the 92 Squadron guys. We also collected several castings from the MHR including the Klinger valve handles and the keeps for the bogie and trailing truck. All these were purchased thanks to our amazing members who sponsored them.

‪We have 4 spring beams for the front bogie available for sponsorship at a cost of £850 each. Getting these sponsored would be a major step forward to having all the components required to successfully overhaul the front bogie. ‬

‪Work continues on GSN with efforts focused on the fabricated of the dust cover for the trailing truck and the machining of the Klinger valves. Don’t forget we are also having a working party on the loco at Sellindge between the 4th and 7th May to which our members are invited. ‬[IMG]

Busy but productive working party took place over the bank holiday weekend. More info will follow the monthly update. In the meantime one of our volunteers produced this brilliant video showing some of the work done.

Any news of the loco moving to a new home yet. I did hear some months ago there is a possible place the loco could go.

We were in the final stages of negotiations with West Somerset Restorations at Wiliton but unfortunately that deal collapsed when the West Somerset Railway decided they wanted to put Kinlet Hall and Tornbury Castle in Swindon shed. Very disappointing for us but great to see 7027 returning to steam in the near future.
