    Figured one thread for the year would be plenty for such a regular occurrence.

    The first of the Surrey Hills Circulars is being noted on UKSteam with 60009 heading the run vice 35028 on 3rd February.

    Is this another special request? Or work being done to 35028 ahead of the King Alfred?

    Clan Line was not booked for this and there is nothing needed other than planned work to prepare for Feb 10th. :)

    Subject to passing its steam test on 30/31 January, "Clan Line" will now be working this train. MNLPS had last year informed DBC and Belmond that we didn't think our programme of winter maintenance would be completed in time for this date, but we are now available, whilst 60009 isn't.

    Am I imagining it or does the final clip at Victoria around 4.10 suggest that Clan Line's recently been given a paint job on and around the smokebox area? You don't see that reflection and gloss without a bit of extra effort.

    The next Belmond Surrey Hills Circular is on February 16th and will be a themed Paddington Afternoon Tea special. If anyone is planning on seeing it please be aware that although it was scheduled for Tornado, it will now be hauled by Clan Line. This is because of the technical problems that beset Tornado during its FTR examination prior to transfer to Didcot on 13/2.

    There is nothing wrong with Tornado. Neither is there any truth in the rumour that the technical problem is down to marmalade on one of the relay switches in the TPWS system.

    This was on the A1 Faceache feed:

    Graham Langer To clarify, Clan Line will handle the Belmond this Friday but Tornado should be back in traffic for the North Briton. The problem centred on a relay in the switch gear associated with the TPWS system, the failure of which only showed up in the FTR prior to the light engine move to Didcot. In all other respects Tornado is in rude good health!

    so is tomorrow's lunch trip the usual Vic - Shalford route? uk steam has crossed it all out

    If you notice, there is a mistake in the HTML on the UK Steam info page. The "end strikethrough" tag has a space in it, so the crossed through line does not end as it should after the word "Tornado"
