    Hmmm....

Cut and shut. Throw 6 wheels under it. Coronation chicken sandwiches, scampi fries, party pies, a keg or two....job done!

Wisbeach and Upwell Tramway car? It's well known you can fit a licensed buffet in one of those! :);)

No, that would pretty much be just the party pies plus a fridge full of tinnies!

Yes, don't be misled by looking at T. E. figures. I can assure you, from extensive personal experience, that a Hall and a Black 5, (please kneel and worship) will knock spots off a Manor, which is not to knock them, because I love them. The other two are bigger and have more poke. Adherents will dispute, but, again, from experience, there is little to choose between a Hall and a Black 5. I believe the B1 comes in likewise, but I don't have practical experience of them, just anecdotal, like the rest of us.

I have, as a fireman, travelled up Eardington Bank on 45110 at 25% cutoff, (against 40% on 7812), with 10 coaches, comfortably in excess of 25mph, sitting on my seat drinking tea. My driver is now beyond any sanction, bless him.

I have, as a driver, ascended the bank on 34027, with 10 coaches, this year, in 28% cutoff from just north of the station, at just under 30mph, (as it transpired - we couldn't see the speedo, it was dark). The engine was in full regulator and completely comfortable. Had the road been suitable, we could have passed Bridgnorth at 70mph with no effort.

That is the difference between theory, mathematical calculations and reality.

Now give me that damned Stanier 4MT! Or two, if you like. :)

Oh, by the way, in keeping with the original topic; if I win the megabucks, I am so rebuilding a roller bearing Duchess!

What happened to that paint code? Did they loose it?

I have to admit, it would be nice if it saw the light of day more often. :)
