Looking good Pannier Man, five coaches behind it or a rake of PO coal wagons and a toad and it will look a treat. =D> =D> =D> \:D/ \:D/

I don't think Blue will do justice to a pannier, just as I don't think Kahki will do justice to a mogul. They are different but (for me) too different. Nem mind

Plenty of green and black ones around though - it's only temporary anyway

It's not as if they're painting it pink and renaming it 'Hogwarts County', in any case its time at the colliery was just as significant as its time with the GWR. 'Cept it was a bit dirtier.

Here Here. Well done that man.

Why should either locomotive be denied the chance of representing a period of its existence just because it dosn't fit with the 'norm' that trainspotters expect to see?

I'm over the moon that the pannier is going back to industrial condition, in fact it might make me go to Didcot just to see it... well it and Bonnie Prince Charlie anyway.

And Trojan! Not sure how that was painted when in industrial use, though it managed to keep its name & numberplates.

That's quality, first time I've seen a propper photo of it in industrial use. The industrial chimney still lives on... as a flower pot!

I love debates about loco liveries!!!

At the end of the day it's up to the owner / restorers what colour the final paint job is?
For me, it could even be pink and named Hogwarts County,... the important thing is that the engineering work is sound.
Even the nicest looking loco can still run and sound like a bag of spanners falling down the subway stairs at Didcot, but I know which one I'd rather drive!

The 53 is already looking smart and I can't wait till she launches! It's like having Westen Enterprise in desert sand while all the others were green/maroon or a few blue Kings.

    Whatever brings the photographers in!!

3650 will outshop in blue,... might look a bit bright until it dirties down a bit. But whats the point in painting it in it's final livery while running it in and sorting out any teething probs. Nothing worse than finishing the loco then ruining the paint job while tinkering with it. If all goes acording to plan, 3650 will eventually be stopped for a couple of weeks when we are completely happy and have the final GW green 1939 roundal livery applied with TYS on the front footstep.

Watch this space for when the first coat of blue gets applied.

    Nice pic of 1340 too.

Yes. I suppose it is up to the owners eventually. I am just slightly surprised that we are going to have a sand coloured mogul, a blue pannier, a GWR black 2-8-0 and a GWR black pannier. None of which is the norm in my opinion. I hope that 3650 won't be too bad a shock!! I am not sure how she will go with Didcot's carridges??!
Well of course its not as bad as painting a rebuilt west country into a ****** LMS livery just for some rubbishy book!!

Contradicting yourself there aren't you? On the one hand you're saying that it's up to the owners and then you're criticising the owner of Taw Valley for taking a commercial decision to earn a good income to pay for the very substantial, very thorough, very expensive overhaul now taking place.

Whilst the overhail of 34027 may be very expensive , sadly it's not funded by it's stint in Hogwarts livery which was done under previous ownership before Phil Swallow bought it

  15. With her going into a proper livery when shes out shopped will she be making a visit or two to the industrial heartland?

Not to mention the blue King - i'd be in favour of a photographic grey 72xx as well!

Hah - we were talking about that down the pub the other week!

All we need now is to line out 3822 like No. 97, paint say the 48 in chocolate & cream, the 61 in maroon, and then give something else the full Wolverhampton treatment.

    Perfick!

Oh, and put 5051 into apple green.

That probably trickled down to where I heard it then! I liked the idea of painting it green with the tiny GWR roundel as well, would look fantastic on such a behemoth of a tank engine

Oh by the way, I liked your Aberdare project leaflet too =D>
