Indeed, but don't shoot the messenger, please!
I suppose the job now isn't so much 'building a boiler' as 'assembling a kit of parts to make a boiler', as the components have been built elsewhere. So maybe a good lead-in to boiler building for a new player?

My guess would be that Simon Scott and his team at West Shed would be doing it? MRC have got a much smaller boiler from one of their Jintys at NNR engineering, so I'd be confused why they'd do a much bigger boiler....

I believe an announcement of the location and 'who' will be doing the work will be made around the 25th of this month. Only one week to wait! Then the full story can be told. Kev will be on here to announce it im sure!

The crest with the blue bull is not a squadron badge it is the badge of RAF Marham, long time home to Tornado squadrons and now the last operational base of the dwindling Tornado force.

Thank you - could not remember off the top of my head at all. Great to know. It is somewhat sad to think that the Tornados will soon be history but at least we have 60163 to keep their name and their bases alive in spirit.

Tornado might be going out of service in the not too distant future, but Marham will still be there in the long run, not only in its primary role as Sandringham's Airport but also as home to the F35 Lightning II. (Should be Lightning III - the first was the P-38, the second was the proper Lightning. ;))

Is that the same as the Ford Capri offset (there was a Capri before the Capri, if you get my drift).

'Lightning', 'Tornado' .... was there a spell of naming aircraft after Gooch locomotives?

But then I suppose there was a precedent set by 'Hurricane' and 'Spit Fire'. But then prior to that they chose one of Dean/Churchward's early collaborative efforts with 'Camel'.

It certainly makes me feel my age - I began my career in the aircraft industry at BAC (as it was then) a fortnight after the first flight of a Tornado in the UK, by the second prototype. It was still called MRCA, and I began work on what was then called the Air Defence Variant. All of these have now been withdrawn, and the Tornado fleet is rapidly dwindling.

Snap! From when Britain ruled the skies... and to think English Electric made everything from television sets (briefly) to cookers to railway engines to fighter planes!
