Some Annie Sloan chalk paint would set it off a treat. A bit of shabby chic is a magnet to the quinoa set.

Galatea looks good in red, just needs the shade corrected, LMS on the tender and a digit off the number.

Indeed, and if I were that somebody I'd ensure that the loco was finished in a livery that most closely matched its appearance when first rebuilt in the late 1950s. After all it's only(!) another £6 or 7K on the bill. However, I'm not that somebody so there's nothing more I can or should, say on the matter.

I must admit , i hope 35018 does run for this year in unlined black with early totem, whilst it gains mileage , but then over the winter 2017/18, She gets repainted into authentic Br Green before coming down south to become part of west coasts southern pool, unless of course LSL have that all sown up, but i would think 35018, in green would be very popular back on its home region

Ah yes, the Farrow & Ball Light Railway, a subject that still gets modellers and historians exercised to this day in debating whether the paint sample carefully conserved in the Farrowshire County Museum genuinely reflects the full splendour of that railway, or whether it has suffered the ravages of time and sunlight. Personally, I feel that railway was never the same when it fell on hard times after World War 1 and the delightful Edwardian peach and purple with salmon highlights, chocolate coloured frames and vermillion buffer beams set off with block-shaded gilt lettering was replaced by a sombre battleship grey ...

I agree with you Victor I think some people forget how lucky we are, here we are, it's 2017 and 50 years after people at time thought 'that's it, it's all over' in 1967 so far we've had genuine steam hauled passenger trains, a 100mph steam loco working ok it was a test run but still. We've had the largest gathering of working Bulleid Pacifics since 1967 and today we have 2 Bullied MNs on test on the big railway! What more do some of you want?! Personally if BIL returns to traffic in black am I bothered? No, I just think it's great that someone has put a wonderful piece of British engineering back where it belongs. David Smith and West Coast get a fair old bit of stick at times and ok maybe they don't help themselves at times, but for restoring a wreck from Barry, to moan about the livery just strikes me as rather petty. Just ask yourself where would BIL be now if it wasn't for someone like David Smith? In fact where would our mainline steam scene be without someone like David Smith?

Bullieds don't do hills or so it used to be said, i'm sure you will get to see the " the black un" showing what a proper engine is like compared to your inferior northern cart horses .

If things had gone to plan Mr Riley would have had 35018 running for a couple of years at least now. It might still be black though;-)

A creditable job for sure but it was not a Barry wreck by any means. It is accademic but but I am sure it would have been done quicker and better by Rileys, including air brakes which are pretty much essential now. Great to see it running though and hopefully for many years to come.
