Galatea simply blasted it's way up the incline after leaving the Severn tunnel and on towards Patchway. It was a wonderful sight. :)

A large gallery of us had gathered at Cattybrook. We asked ourselves how many more steam excursions are likely to pass this popular photographic location before the masts appear for the Great Western electrification. At nearby Pilning the location has already been ruined. There are giant masts everywhere. Such a shame.

I see that Galatea passed Filton Abbey Wood 16 mins early at 17:02 but didn't arrive at Bristol TM until 17:25. My old push bike could have got me there sooner. [IMG] <BJ>

Not me, it was James at Attadale but it was an accurate observation. I haven't heard of any other fires though.

45699 accelerating away from Craven Arms near Stokesay Castle. A minute either side of her passing, the sun was out and the whole scene was lit. At least I got one out of two shots in the sun today...

I'm amazed that a tour participant can find the time to post so much. You are on the train I presume?

and earlier today leaving Shrewsbury in a fairly leisurely fashion, the sun hiding for a short while.
45699 was withdrawn from here in 1964, it's former home being on the right behind the NR biomass plantation ( hint ! ).

Good to hear. As I wrote earlier, I hope that the English leg is a success and the few unplanned experiences of Scotland are a distant memory.

  16. I am hearing rumours that Scot s going solo to Exeter? Hopefully this is just that, a rumour. Has anyone else heard this at all?

It wouldn't be the end of the world if that was the case. From a videographers point of view, all we would hear is the Scot and very little from the Bullied. Last year's run turned out great with Ray Churchill giving out strict instructions on what was to come from the rear. The Scot basically took the whole load up Dainton, minus the 47/57 which was putting down just enough power to turn it's wheels. Not bothered either way, as long as there's no box on the front.

Both 46100 and 34046 are at st Philips marsh this evening so unless 34046 failed on the way down I can't see why it won't be on the trip tomorrow
