A 32' 6 wheel luggage composite. A shade overpriced, given it's condition and the fact that there are several about.

 

Looks a wreck but is on its original underframe which may be of use to someone even if the rest is possibly sadly firewood

 

There only 8x CLZ recorded on VCT, and only other 1x GER (I'm taking this one isn't logged). Not too common, unless you mean GER coaches in which yes there is a lot of GER wooden bodied coaches about.

Great to read in the latest issue of SR the three Southern Pullman coaches at Seaburn have been rescued and will find their way to Kent after first going to Barrow Hill for renovation.

 

Not sure that I follow you! If you are saying that there is only one GER luggage composite extant, I'm afraid that you're mistaken. We have one at Mangapps, until recently had another which is now at the Mid-Suffolk Light Railway, there is a restored example at the K&ESR and I know of at least a couple of others "in the wild" though admittedly, the rate at which these are now deteriorating means that the last mentioned may no longer exist.

I think I have found the answer! You were searching for a CLZ- a lavatory composite, of which, indeed, VCT lists only one. The subject of this thread is a luggage composite, listed as a CZ, of which 15 GER survivors are listed, not including the subject of this thread and others which are known to exist.

 

There is a coach body on eBay in description it says 1910 proberly from the Taunton to barnstaple railway and as I found out the roof is water tight.

Look closely and you will see a cattle wagon body for sale on E Bay too for £1500.00 plus, s.omething very much in demand.

Finally managed to negotiate a site visit. We've got the bogie for free. It has a fair bit of surface corrosion, but it is complete and definitely useable. We're going to need to wait until they pull down the building before we can get to it. Meanwhile, there's a fair bit of useable stuff, like doors (the ones inside the building are in good condition) window frames and glass and even the communication cord mechanism that we can take it we can get a team in at the right time. So, fairly slim pickings, but it's all useful and free apart from transport.

 

Well done. You should try and get the centre casting off the body too if you can.

Look even closer and you'll find it's a bog standard 12t van body with a few planks missing. The seller has mis-described it. As you say, though, if it really was a genuine cattle van body it would be well worth looking at.

Best of luck, last time I saw those doors (literally October) is was clear the internal door remaining is full of filler and is not likely to open easily!

Anyone got a 3 wheel Mechanical Horse they want a trailer for?

 

Did all the vehicles get sold or were any scrapped through lack of interest?
