Got to agree . Once BR started running DMUs on the Minehead Branch the holidays spent with my grandparents in Watchet were never the same .

I note they are using benches and not seats in the older photo. 'Scuse my higgorance but was this common at the more rural stations or has GWR standardisation not reached there yet?

Can't really say. But if you look further along the same platform there is a standard GWR Bench lurking - but just one.

And none visible on the Up platform.

    Bad news !

I thought I detected some strange vibes when I was there at Christmas to pick up my traditional barrel. The owners are a lovely couple and I hope they land on their feet.

can't have too many Manors, in many ways the perfect locos for a preserved line....others should slew their track....

That's the advantage of having 'Norwegian' on the K&ESR. No track slewing required for the visit by 'Foxcote Manor'.

Manors and other decent engines like Halls are very wide over the cylinders and won't clear the platform edge at lesser railways . Slewing the track a few inches might solve that problem and allow decent engines to be operated. Mind you some railways probably don't to avoid GWR locos showing up the locals.
