My shot from yesterday only seconds before Steven's, a slightly different view of 44871 in the spectacular Monessie gorge taken from the river bed. A dreich day yes but it did little to mute the autumn colour of the West Highlands.

Before the Loch Treig Hydro electric scheme was introduced to power the aluminium smelter at Fort William the flow of water through the Monessie gorge was much stronger, loose rocks wearing the river channel into a series of smooth bowls where the River Spean enters the gorge.
