Is the Black 5 out again Sunday? TIA

Some goosebumps-inducing performances from 7822, 45212, 34053, 75078 and 5820. The best day that I've had for a long time. It's a pity about all the timetable daftness.

Being 45 minutes down. Missing out an entire train and a shuttle. Taking engines off trains at the wrong time for no apparent reason. How many do you want?

Found out from the Severn Valley Representative accompanying SKP (who patiently supervised my driving of 34027 on the Valley last Thursday) that the sanders were on the blink on Friday. The timetable was about 25 minutes down on Saturday, and a lot of engines were out of diagram. 34053 ended up doing an extra trip, which I am sorry I missed. Despite this, it was good to see it on a new railway in the north.

There were a few clips of her struggling on YouTube this morning. She certainly made very hard work of it. She slipped every time the regulator was opened.

Visited today after mates who had been all weekend said what a top event it was, and well yeah...

Come away thinking it was one of the most disappointing events I've been to. The Early morning ECS was late due to no Signaller appearing at Damens nor the Keighley shunter. This put the first train from Oxenhope down by 20 mins and things never improved from here on, with delays reaching an hour at one point and still being over 40mins late when I left around 5pm. This resulted in all the planned Goods Trains being cancelled, and reduced the event to a basic 2-train TT with 6x locos with the VCT shuttle fitted in every so often.

I had a good time catching up with various people, but there was just no urgency or interest in recovering time at both Keighley & Oxenhope. There was plenty of recovery time in the TT, and yet runrounds & loco changes were taking 30 mins plus, so any time crews were recovering on the road was being lost almost instantly. I've spent more time sat looking at stations than actually being on the move today, or it has certainly felt like that. If it wasn't for the numerous people I saw and caught up with, it would have all been very boring.

And it's all rather surprising tbh, as normally KWVR put on an excellent show despite the limitations with infrastructure. The extra "Pullman" service was good value mind, the staff on there were very welcoming and the couple of guys we spoke to elsewhere were pleasant and informative. But timekeeping was non-existent today and as the basics of a gala is to run trains it just wasn't great.

Don't get me wrong, I will be back in a fortnight for the Beer Fest and will continue to visit and support other events at KWVR next year and beyond. But today was a definite "off" day, and is not what I'm used to from the KWVR boys/girls.

Looks like they've had issues for all three days if that's the case. I noted there was no real effort to sort out the delays until late in the day- I got off at Haworth for a wander round the town for an hour with a mate, and on our return could swear that a service had been caped to try and regain schedule. As I mentioned above, the allocations were all over the place by 17:00 on Saturday.

Approx 40 mins late start at Keighley this morning.... but worked out well as I would have missed the last train back if it had run to time...Nice Day. Things always seem to slip on Gala Day. the Manor slipped this morning a little, think even the Super D Slipped when that came...

Another good day out at the KWVR yesterday and after the huge disappointment of the none appearance of the Manor working the morning Goods Train those at 'the mound' were happy to come home with this

Other than cancelling the goods this is what is run anyway isn't it?

I was there Sunday & after a bad start I agree there appeared to be no urgency to regain the timetable but in terms of frequency there was plenty going IMO.

It’s not rain, it’s just very, very low cloud.

It was nice to see visiting engines again. Can we have 5224 again? That was a monster!

53808, 63395, 6023 and 6960 would all look great coming out of Keighley at a future event.

Past events have had a "third path" allowing non-stop Keighley - Damens shuttles alongside the 2x trains. It's varied between a VCT / Goods / Mk1 rake at past events, but it offers something else whilst locos are swapped at Keighley.
