76084 has a full mainline ticket with all the tech installed so can go pretty much anywhere on Network Rail gauging permitting. As the standard 4 groups support coach arrived at Sheringham today I'd guess that it'll be going by rail to the NYMR.

About 1997/98 had a day at the Lancs, two train service one was 4277, the other was 6441 in BR Maroon. I remember saying to my mum, 'we'll ride with that red one, I don't need the green 'un! I think Frank Cronin was driving that day cos I remember talking to the driver about 46521 and he was saying what a cracking little engine he thought it was. Thinking about it it must have been early 1998, because I remember suggesting it as a visitor to the SVR for the Spring gala that year, 3 Ivatt 2's, 1 Red, 1 Black, and 1 Green. And being told 'you can't really have 3 of the same class at a gala' was mightily annoyed that the 2002 gala 4 years later featured 5 Standard Tanks...

Would that count as a light test run?

Probably not. It's been tested at speed at the GCR and is carrying out its third and fourth trips to Cromer (Network Rail territory) today.
Besides which it has done a fair few miles at the NNR since overhaul.

I believe they have lit a fire in the WD's boiler recently.

The Y14 can take 5 coaches and a van and has had to towards the red season when 45337 decided it didn't want to play anymore. It can do it, but long term, it's not going to do the engine any favours. Is it coincidence that after doing a week of five and a van that the tubes need re-expanding and the tube beads being put down again? The jury's out on that one....

76084 is going to be missed by the crew and shed staff alike. Apart from general maintenance, there's little we have to do to it! All being well, it leaves on Monday over the crossing.

There's a four train service over the 40's with a 30min interval. Saturday should (again, all being well) see 53809, 92203' 8572 and 76084 running. On Sunday the Y14 takes over from 76084. It's planned that the b12 will be on the quads Saturday and the Y14 on Sunday.

When I first came to Sheringham nearly 30 years ago the J15 (as it then was) was the mainstay of the line, although at that time there wasn't the climb to Holt.

Better to treat it with care than over-work it

So 76084 will be leaving the line at the end of 2016 as planned? Fingers crossed the WD will be ready to take its place in 2017.

With 80078 under overhaul in Essex maybe we will see that on the line in the future.

Every 30 mins from each end. First train 9:00 from Sheringham and 9:33 from Holt. Last train 17:30 from Sheringham, 17:55 from Holt. 4 sets in use.

Thx guys. Is there a typo in the timetable as published. In the bottom table it shows Holt to Sheringham trains departing from Sheringham and arriving at Sheringham?

Even though the WD passed its out of frames steam test this week, don't expect to see it for a little while yet. It'll take time to put all the bits back on.

Again, as far as I'm aware the diesel will drag 76084 to Cromer, then it's all down to the standard four (that was the intention when I left work on Wednesday...) From what I understand it is due to come back to the NNR in 2017, but things and circumstances can change.

The 9F has had some serious plate work repairs in the tender to stop it from leaking, the Y14 has been slowly warmed through and then a steam test on Wednesday after a bit more work in the firebox and looks like its solving the problem. The B12 has had some attention to its safety valves and glands, whilst the 7F has been working service trains. Also Wissington returned on Tuesday, so a C exam and steam test next week getting it ready for members day. The fun never stops....!
