12 days to go before The Peak Forester is due to run and as of now no timings on RTT have yet appeared.

However what is more worrying is this tour doesn't appear on the Icons of Steam website although tours before and after do.

Makes me wonder if this might be a non runner.

12 days would generally be too far ahead for timings. Start worrying if we get to the Thursday before and there are no timings. Anyway, when I booked, the RTC confirmed (contrary to their web site of course ) that this will be Braunton.

Timings on RTC web site look pretty accurate, even though says approximate.

After the performance of 34052 last weekend, hopefully this trip will be a good one.

A couple of seats miraculously appeared in the last couple of days, so I've snapped-up the penultimate one. Boarding at Stevenage to tick-off the ECML-Stamford line junction, otherwise I would have gone for Peterborough. As such, it'll be a desperate three-hour drive down from York as the first service train of the day doesn't get to Stevenage until seven minutes after departure.

Not quite with you old chap. Surely you could still tick off the ECML-Stamford line junction by boarding at Peterborough as the junction is a few miles north of the cathedral city.

Did this trip with 34046 in 2013 and the loco was in top form. Excellent climb out of the Cross and a particularly noisy one of Manton Bank. Some sparkling restarts too. Made all the more enjoyable by being box free.

Quite right, but I thought there was another turn-off onto the Stamford line just north of the A1 Thorpe Road roadbridge (/thingy) which accesses Platform 5. Regardless of my lack of knowledge of local track layouts, it means extra mileage behind 34052, so thumbs up from me on that score, too (it's late... wandering through the streets of York for an open pub sort of late).

If you pass under the A1 on the approach to P5, you're at the wrong station. It's the A1179. :) Enjoy your trip.

I was tempted by this trip but, it does seem to take an age to get there , almost 6 and a half hours and just an hour at Rowsley !!

Hmm. Had much longer on the 2013 trip. One of the group Mods met us at Rowsley and drove us to a pub for a couple of beers and lunch.

I,m afraid I was spoilt by the 4 hour trips Tornado use to run from The Cross to York . Unfortunately they seem to be a thing of the past !!

The return is electric hauled hence the shorter time.
