Who would go and see it, it can't run on the mainline, there are better causes at the NRM, Hamilton and Green Arrow spring to mind.

The reason for 92220 having its name and its special livery was that it was the last steam loco built for BR (and as far as anyone could have thought at the time the last ever for mainline use in Britain). The reason for the particular livery was that it was the BR version of the livery used for the highest-profile locos built at Swindon. I can't see that anything analogous to either of those reasons applies to 66779. It's merely the last of one class of locos, of which there have been dozens over the years. It's unlikely to be the last diesel loco built for mainline use in Britain. And it hasn't been built at Swindon or any other ex-BR works.

Edit: however I do agree with Victor that it looks good.

50044 - Wouldn't count on seeing 92134 anytime soon, told by a member of the lancs steam department it's approx 2yrs off completion plus there's kinda the big issue of the owners needing to source a tender for it too.

Have to agree, much better than most modern liveries - not that I want to start a livery debate :)

Agreed the 9Fs looked the business, as for that tin shed on wheels, paint it what colour you like it's still a tin shed on wheels. What happened to design and aesthetics when it comes to modern locomotives?

Now that is a Class 66 worth looking at. :)
But does that now mean there are three Evening Stars in circulation or has 92214 stopped changing over to 92220?
So much for the special significance of the name. Surely they should have called the last Diesel "Scraping The Barrel"? :p

Next batch of class 68s are on the way.

So it's definitely not the last diesel for British railways.

Must admit that paint job for the evening shed is rather good.

Would look better on a class 90 or 86, as these was british built not from the USA

I actually think that 66 looks bloody good!

I'm just nearing completion of a lengthy (nearly a year!!)

class 66 0 gauge build - do I finish it in that livery or stuck to EWS as planned ?!?

Definitely the green livery. EWS livery is dire, whoever decided on the EWS should have visited Specsavers. Terrible, bland, drab, are words that spring to mind. The green??? it certainly looks "the dogs":)

How long before the paint make overs? Large logo brunswick, then black (lined mixed traffic), then blue, then apple?
