She's wearing a 34A shed plate and Top Shed didn't do dirty where their top link locos were concerned so entirely appropriate that she should be nice and clean.

Imagine what might have occurred if it was a weekend run with a later departure. It was bad years ago with just a Peterborough departure.

The engine appears to be running well enough today. Looking forward to reading full details.

they'll kill our hobby. Most enthusiasts are , now, very disciplined, but this behaviour by Joe Public drawn out by the Hype is a real danger to our hobby

Trespass was hardly a surprise and sadly, it will probably have been 'the public' rather than enthusiasts etc. That is the downside of high publicity runs that get into the media. All the (good) bad and ugly come out. By contrast, when Tornado did the Top Gear trip, all we had were the enthusiasts in the know and the public were at home. It ran without a hitch and what a run it was. Today will be memorable, of course, but with it comes the inevitable crowd control issue and the risk averse network.

Needless to say the early morning sun didn't last quite long enough this morning but 60103 made an impressive sight nonetheless. Here she is speeding along just north of Arlesey with one of the four helicopters pacing her.

Afraid so lost 11 min between Sandy and St Neots due to trespassers, I think it had to be brought to a stand. Local Radio on the way home suggested more at Peterborough

I seem to recall BTP running a dmu ahead of some steam trips in the 70s/80s to catch trespassers. Anyone else remember that?

Morons, I just hope there is facial photographic evidence to bring these idiots into the courts. Train crews have enough to concentrate on without these mindless photographers wandering along the line side.

Seems as if the reporter needs to be a little more aware :

    1. At the water stop he expects the stop to be "a couple of minutes"; Really ??

    2. He notes the guard telling "trainspotters" to move off the track; members of the public ? - YES; trainspotters ? - a derogatory term that MIGHT apply; rail enthusiasts ? - DEFINITELY NOT !

Taken on my phone through a rather grubby IC225 window!

James - what a great photograph by any standards, let alone one taken on a phone through a train window! Well done.

I remember the publicity about it but have no idea if or where it ever happened.
While it's hard to blame NR for being risk averse on one of the country's high speed lines, trespass was inevitable given the media hype and should have been anticipated. Unfortunately the knee jerk reaction will inevitably be more and more palisade fencing. Just hope that none of those being that stupid are enthusiasts though enthusiasts will inevitably be blamed.

Couldn't make it out this morning but the weather in Shropshire is just fantastic.
