Avon Valley Railway Gala - 17 & 18 October

The info on the visitors has disappeared from the event page of the AVR website.

The info on the visitors still isn't on the page. It was there last week.

 

All locos present and correct. The Red Army has arrived. <BJ>

Which way are they facing?

Currently planning to visit both days (subject to work).

Update: All visiting engines now face Bristol. <BJ>

 

I've just spoken to the lads at Bitton and they say that Met 1 was delivered facing Bath. When L92 was delivered yesterday the opportunity was taken to turn Met 1 with the road transporter so that all the visiting engines now face Bristol. <BJ>

 

I can't make the gala unfortunately so are any of the visitors going to working any other weekends at all?

I visited the Avon Valley Railway today and thoroughly enjoyed their End of Season London Transport gala.

There was something happening all the time. The number of trains that were running up and down must have been quite demanding and therefore the timetable slipped a little but the railway should be very proud of what they managed to achieve.

The 12 wagon goods train was in constant use, the loco combinations changed regularly and the trains were driven with great enthusiasm, especially the triple headed passenger train hauled by Met 1, L92 and L150.

Well done to the Avon Valley Railway ...... I'll be back tomorrow. <BJ>

 

Here's my footage of today's Gala with three London Transport engines doing very well, also featuring Austerity no. 15 Earl David putting on a good display as well. All praise goes to The Avon Valley Railway for the theme and the engines that worked hard today.

Spent two hours or so in the GWR brake van making 4 round trips. Great fun!

Cross posted from the other thread.... Guards eye view of L.150 as banking engine on the goods.

 

You can clearly see a cyclist next to the goods train. He was videoing the train one handed and cycling at the speed of the train .....not recommended. He cycled from Riverside to Bitton station. I have to say, the film was very impressive. <BJ>

 

Yeah I did clock him when I was on the train but didn't realise he was filming. I've often wondered about doing something similar on a bicycle but having the camera mounted to the bike rather than holding it.
