I might have known that the law of Sod would raise his head.
189 did appear facing the other way.

Don't know for sure as I wasn't at the railway today, however as it has been used everyday since boiler washout late last week, I think it is very likely to be used tomorrow (especially with the SNGLT trying to get as much in the kitty as possible!), it is most likely to be on the 10:50 off Pickering. However if you don't get it, the Q6 has been making soon amazing noises in the last week!

Is someone able to confirm the rumour that 75029 has run into some stay trouble, and if so how bad it is?

There was a stay problem at the end of July/beginning of August but this was sorted and the loco had, as Steve says, been back in traffic. Not on the list for today though.

Just thought I'd comment to say that i had a fantastic day on the line today, credit to the crew on 76079 on the first trip of the day. The run to Grosmont was probably the loudest run behind a loco I've ever had, the highlight had to be the restart half way up the bank to Goathland with 7 on the hook, never seen so much clag from a loco !

Yes it was good, but one of the restarts was due to it running out of puff. Its previous run on 1715 Grosmont on Monday saw it similarly puff-less and the climb to Goathland was remarkable for the skill in keeping moving the whole way at a crawl and not stopping. I was pondering poor coal given the normal reliability of 76079, but I see it has been taken off duty after today, so there may be an issue.

So the power situation remains on a knife edge and the short Whitby is tending to be D7628. At least 61994 kept going Mon/Tue despite my visit.

The highlight for me was my last run today - watching 63395 storm into Goathland on 1540 Grosmont, past waiting 61994, then sitting back in the Gresley buffet watching 63395 on the curves, whilst I munched my cream scone tea and sipped coffee. The buffet some days is doing higher quality snacks than offered from the trolley on the other trains, but NYMR is poor in marketing this and I doubt many passengers knew. There is a news item on the website I agree, but it needs selling on the spot in 'real time' too. The couple of other passengers taking tea were also impressed.

A replacement unofficial forum has been set up by volunteer Gary Stainburn. Unfortunately, it has not been possible to recover the data from the old forum, but at least this s a fresh start. It can be found at: http://www.nymr.org.uk/unofficial/viewforum.php?f=12

That's great news- I for one have missed it. It's a shame when I tried to login in with my usual details I was locked out! I have emailed Gary so touchwood it will be sorted fairly soon.

I enjoyed a very spirited run behind No. 7 with three on the other day. I gather that her regulator has to be manually held open, which must make keeping such a powerful machine under control on a short train very difficult indeed. Congratulations therefore to her driver on that working for some superb enginemanship.
