What about the T9 fits in with the theme and has never been to the GWR

Lord Nelson or 92214 would fit in.

Great choice, could we see a triple headed Bulleid train then? (there were occasional triple headed trains early and late in the day last year, and P&O's facing north at the moment) I'm still on holiday that weekend, so not fair!

    Blimy! News gets out fast!
The gwsr are pleased to be able to add SR 34007 Wadebridge to the Cotswold festival of steam gala, courtesy of our friends at the mid Hants railway. 34007 will line up along side our other confirmed guest, 34092 city of wells, courtesy of the Kwvr and the 34092 partnership, making we hope a rather impressive display . Book those dates 23rd - 25th may!

It would seem that on the GWSR steam blog, there is no mention of 35006 being ready, or in the lineup for the event. You would have thought that if they thought it was likely she would be ready, it would at least be mentioned as 35006 would be a major attraction.

Is it just me or has the "past visitors page" gone missing from the website? Wanted to check as I'm pretty sure 34007 has visited before.

I just asked in the comments section and apparently not expected to be in the lineup. :(

I wouldn't usually post on here like this, but, the GWSR Steam Dept. blog is quite up to date and a factual source. We had similar when completing 7820 with people speculating about various things, when test runs would be and what needed doing to complete it etc. etc. Such often duff info is rarely helpful and can soon often be taken as gospel by many once it gets posted in numerous places....! Real and factual information is likely to come from the owners or the blog first, other sources should be treated as little more than 'messroom chatter' unless suitably backed up imho.

    Regards,

    Mike

I am guessing one of the deciding factors will be its pressurized steam test within the next few weeks. If that goes ok you never know

I would be hesitant to start saying that 35006 will be running. You've got to remember that the locomotive has still got a number of jobs that need to be completed before it can even be moved under its own power. There will have to be a period of running in, and after a 30 year overhaul, you would be wise to account for some minor teething problems. Then afterwards you have the painting of the loco, which will take some time in itself. With the gala just over 2 months a ways, it would be very tight time-wise to get all of this done.

As the post above says, the best source for factual information is the GWSR Steam Dept Blog.

Mike is spot on, it's much safer to not promise it'll be ready then look stupid and let people down when it isn't finished. P&o is coming to the end of a very long and complex restoration . Quite rightly the guys don't want to mess things up at this late stage. We all hope that things will go well.

Last time I looked it had already been painted. Certainly not booked into our paintshop, there's no space until next year now, we're fully booked! I have the tin of metallic copper paint just in case though...
