I am currently restoring this set of lamps for a railway i work on but am unsure of their origin, there dont appear to be any clear markings on them but wondered if you intellegant bunch could shed any light on what type they are, a friend of mine seems to think they are of Hunslett origin.

    Any info is much appreciated.

They appear to be some form of signal lamp, as they lack a clip to fit to a lamp bracket on a loco. It might be worth trying a similar posting at the forum THE SIGNAL BOX - FORUM • Index page where there are a number of experts on such things.

Sorry - couldn't see the bracket on the two pictures you posted! Regret I am unable to help, then.

They're not off crossing gates are they? But then you'd expect a red lens or filter inside the lamp?

They look like typical private owner loco headlamps - sometimes they have a lamp manufacturer on them and sometimes not.

in my view they cant be loco lamps originally as they would of had a Red aspect that you could either slide in like the GWR lamps or a red aspect that can swivel around from the rear of the lamp to the front like the midland lamps. i also don't recognize the lamps...

I have recently been given a rusty lamp. It is lettered vertically one side LNER and LOCO on the other. It has three aspects, red, green, clear. Unfortunately the front glass is missing. I would like to restore it and wondered if anyone tell me if I can obtain a new one?
