The Middleton Railway has a Peckett 0-4-0 diesel locomotive, which is unique. It has a Gardner 8L3 driving a Wilson gearbox through a fluid coupling, similar to an 04. It has recently suffered from a broken compressor drive belt which is proving almost impossible to replace. The old belt is a Brammer link belt. It measures 28 mm across and about 20 mm deep, which is a totally non-standard size mid way between a C and a D belt. The groove are 26mm wide by 26mm deep. Our regular suppliers (Eriks) have failed to find a replacement and Googling has also failed to find anything. It has to be a link belt as it goes around the transmission. A C belt is too small to fit the grooves and a D belt is both too wide and the small pulley dia is too small for it. If we can't find a replacement belt, it will be a major job replacing the drive pulleys with an alternative size due to space considerations and an otherwise good loco will be out of use.

Has anyone come across these belts/knows a source/has any spare belts?

Next time you are in Newbridge ask to see our collection in the Shed upstairs.
No idea if it suits what you need but feel free to look.
