It’s the diesel gala on the NYMR this weekend. AFAIK, once this is out of the way, the plan for the coming week is 3 steam. Two off New Bridge and One off Grosmont so I’m intrigued as to where you get your figures from.

That sounds just like one of my wife's 'requirements' for a 'domestic improvement' - I have to guess what is needed, then she tells me afterwards that I've got it wrong :-)

This was hinted at at the recent open forum. A realisation that the basic fare was too expensive.

Now on the NYMR website, and available from 16th June until September 24th: kids now travel free on Standard Services this summer, and in addition the NYMR has extended the 10% online discount off tickets booked more than 4 days in advance, to...

Aren’t large tubes and superheater flue tubes the same thing? Do you mean elements for one of the 32’s?

Of course running an extensive service is expensive - but swapping steam for diesel isn't the panacea that some make out, because most of the costs of running the service aren't due to the traction. How much does your C&W bill decrease if you...

825 is fitted with GSM-R. The only thing it doesn't have is OTMR as the NYMR have an exemption from needing this to run on the EVL.

But it did employ the TR’s General Manager and Finance Manager* in similar roles and the TR was an early advocate of the Gift Aid model. *Apologies if the job titles aren’t exactly correct.

Er…. that’s the case with the 12 month version but not the one currently being employed by the NYMR. I believe @35B s suggestion was to keep the Gift aided fare at the previous £49.50 and make the non-Gift aided fare appropriately less (10%)...

Thanks for the update Roger I wouldn’t go as far as saying the aren’t missed but probably more to do with if the effort of keeping it operational compared to funds it can recoup compared to a locomotive which is easier to quantify and then there...

I agree wholeheartedly with that statement and feel volunteers should be members of the supporting organisation. Both the railways I am associated with decided that volunteers need not be members as that could be considered as a barrier to...

If Gift Aid brings in £400k, that equates to around one carriage of passengers per day over the season. If 60 or so people are put off by the high fares each day, that equals all of the GA takings. Less passengers does mean less income. Even...

I’m no expert but I think you’ll find that is not the case. Your insurance will cover volunteers and not members. They are two different categories of person. The railway may require you to be a member to volunteer but to say for insurance...

Perhaps the last would be ok provided that you don’t have to be a member in order to volunteer? (I don’t know if that’s the case here or not)
