The Quainton Railway Society, following its suggested revival some years ago, is going ahead with this project. As the original track at Quainton Road station currently goes through the Restoration Building, the thinking is to remove the existing 2nd hand bookshop, Portacabin office and container, and re-route the line between the building and the adjacent road leading up to the railway overbridge. Thereafter the line will follow its former route with a flagged crossing at the nearby crossroads. Initially, it will only be reconstructed as far as the former Waddesden Road station (1 - 1/4 miles) as at the present time it is thought doubtful if the Department for Transport would accept a crossing of the main A41 which now carries much more traffic than when the line closed in 1935. It is proposed that a run-round loop be installed at this location. Work to begin shortly, with a hoped for completion in 2012.

Well, believe it or not, but it is partly true. It was suggested a few years ago and some preliminary investigating done including that there would have to be building removal and track re-alignment within the railway centre. Where the scheme fell down was the County Council objecting because trains would frighten horses, not that I have ever seen one along the road in question.

So I think I can claim at least a partial success on this one.

I'm sorry, but is this the 1830's? As that was an excuse people used for not using steam engines back then...

The council's point being is that a few years ago the route in Question was set-up as a (permisive?) bridleway. But you are right I have rarely seen horses along that route..... Some do use it judging by the evidence left behind.......
