Good grief, listen up. Tornado’s winter maintenance will, amongst other things, include the fitting of a new boiler (identical to that for the new P2); new tyres; cylinder liners and the ETCS equipment. She will not be going to Darlington as the shed is full of said P2.

Terrifying. I remember taking my son to the first public running at the GCR when he was starting at nursery school; he’s now almost as tall as me and in 6th form!

It’s something normally avoided, but unavoidable in relation to the overhaul I believe.

There was an East Coast event listed on the GCR website earlier today - 15th/16th January 2022 - featuring Tornado, 55019, 73156 and a DMU, but all trace of it had been removed by this evening.
Presumably someone put it on a bit too early in error!

Indeed..joking apart, doing a fine job in not very warm weather. It's countless unpaid folk like this turning out to promote the heritage business in all sorts of ways...

No they’re acceptable for low speed duties. She’s having new tyres as part of the overhaul in the New Year.

Those brake blocks could do with a bit of wire brushing. ;)
But on the whole t'lad has done a decent job. Mr Ospreys comments about unpaid volunteers, doing all manner of jobs (some of them VERY dirty) hits the nail on the head . Well done Mr Sheff.

I think in view of Sheff's skills I'm going to put his name forward as chief spit and polisher for the P2...it'll mean extra wheels, but I'm sure he will cope....
