Just doing a little bit of research, but selected sheds used to paint the smokebox plates. I'm just wondering which sheds they were, what colour they used and to which class of locos? From what I know (though happy to be corrected)

66A Polmadie - Blue smokebox plates to Std 4 Tanks / Black 5s
67A Corkerhill - Red smokebox plates to Black 5s

Did Perth / Inverness also do similar? And was it just numberplates, or shed plates as well? I also know cabside numerals were changed by some of the works (St Rollox being one), but at present don't want to go into that as thats a minefield of its own.

    Thanks in Advance

Never seen a Perth or Inverness engine with anything but a black numberplate and shedplate.

During the late 1950s Polmadie's big uns 46220 46222 46223 46224 46230 46231 and 46232 had the backgound on their numberplates, shedplates and nameplates painted Caledonian blue.
66D Greenock shed was also known to use a paint brush on the smokebox doors of their Fairburn and Standard 2-6-4 tanks.

So Polmadie only painted their big uns, or were these in addition to Stds/Fives etc?
