I have heard that it's going to be steam only from Carlisle south-bound on Wednesday. There is a path for a move from Carnforth to Carlisle in the morning for a LE.

 

Correct Neil with 45231 in the frame I believe .

I can confirm that only the south-bound run from Carlisle will be steam hauled and only to Hellifield. This is due to the LNE route steam ban. I saw the notice last night.

 

Is Hellifield - Blackburn in the LNE region?

 

I don't think so. I suspect that the boundary between the LNWR and LNE must be around Hellifield or just beyond heading towards Leeds.

 

That's what I was thinking too. Not sure why steam would come off at Hellifield if it isn't going into the LNE region?

 

According to UKsteaminfo it's steam from Carlisle all the way back to Lancaster.

 

The boundary between LNW and LNE is at Gargrave. Hellifield-Blackburn if definitely in LNW region.

 

Sorry must be my mistake. I was confusing this with the Waverley. The notice says steam to Lancaster - apologies all round.
